Installing MD8 and I get this error the error at the bottom. I am not sure what the heck is going on so I hope that someone will.

An Error Has Occured
(= Smile Server Layout "layout1"
(**) |--> Screen "Screen1" (0)
(**) | |--> Monitor "Generic|Generic Super VGA, 800X600 @ 56Hz"
(**) | |--> Device "ATI Rage 128"
(**) |--> Input Device "Mouse1"
(**) |--> Input Device "Keyboard1"
(**) XKB : Rules : "xfree86"

I get this error everytime I am configuring the Video and Monitor. I have tried using Generic everything and still I get the error. Any suggestions?

What are you using to configure the video card and monitor Question

Take a look at /var/log/XFree86.0.log I think that's the name of it. It will be something like that anyways. It's a more detailed output of the error message and it might lead you to the right path. Judging from the error it seems you are using XFree86-4.0.3, which is good. Also at the CLi do a "lspci", this will run down a list of all the PCI devices in your machine. Check to see if your vid card is detected properly.
