|
im making my first water cooled system.. its a budget one, costing about HK$320 (approx 40 US$) - im using the senfu 2, cos its the only liquid cooled heat sink i could find. im making my own radiator using copper tubing and cheap RAM heatsinks. i found a pump for HK$40, which is meant to push 400 l/hr.
im trying to contain it all in my case (just got a new chieftec full atx tower)
and was just wondering about what to do with the pump power. is it meant to be on all the time? (meaning make a whole in the back and run the power cable out), or is it ok to run it off the comp PSU?
if the latter is fine, then how do you convert a plug into a 4pin molex? |

Is the pump AC or DC? If it's AC, yer not going to be able to run it off a Molex connector. You can get a PCI relay controller to power yer pump.
Some have modded their PSU (which will obviously void yer warranty) with a AC pass through outlet to provide AC power at power up so they don't need the PCI relay card. Others just run their comp 24/7.
If the pump is DC, then you should be fine running it off of one the Molex connectors provided you have a PSU that can handle it. |
