the throw is a catch/throw error handling. could just be a message box or whatever for your own uses.

this project also used dplay which needs some COM stuff, which explains the CoInitializeEx. ya shouldn't have to do that either.

thanks, hobbes, i'll take a look at it when my brain cools down. i've been stairing at it for what seems like an eternity.

i think i'm going to work on my image processing program, and when i've cooled down, get back to video.
