|
Someone just brought to my attention the fact that an image map on our website doesn't work in netscape navigator. As it is used to hit a lot of the major functionality of the website, it needs to be fixed. I thought that Netscape supported image maps? Other image maps on our site work fine, and there are no problems with that particular image map in IE or in Opera. Suggestions? |

I would need to see some html/script to be able to help.
or a link to the site assuming it is not on an intranet.
What version of netscape?
is the image map link to a pop up window? |

If you are paying for the compatibility (even time counts fore comanies) one should always consider that Netscape brosers are used by 1% of the surfers, globally.
The Counter has stats for that, and more.
I'm not saying you should'nt. I'm saying you should consider...
Good luck, either way.

Not my call to make. We do get a lot of netscape and AOL traffic, so its rather a must. If I had my way, I'd develop for Opera and say screw the rest...

Well...I put this on the back burner for a couple days and missed your post. But it doesn't matter, I figured it out. The idiot that created the website didn't put the area tag coords in the correct order. The shape is rectangle, but the coords he had were left, bottom, right, top instead of left, top, right, bottom. Everywhere else on the site he uses the correct coords, so those image maps don't break. IE and Opera are able to make the rectangle even with the coords in the wrong order, so thats why I never realized it was broken until the customer called and complained. But, its fixed now. |

hrm... opera was crashing 4-5 tymes a day on my winders boxen, and I treated some links in a odd enough way that it finally bugged me.
I like how opera works, but damnit, it just isn't quite stable enough for me
oh, and I had a problem, where sometimes, closing a window that you hadn't been to in a while would cause approx 1+ min of extreme lag!!! |

You know, when I first installed Opera, it would crash on me too. But other than the first 2 days, it hasn't crashed since. |
