Good call. Bit of a worry that you can't ping yourself though. |

Install NetBEUI if you and the other machine are on the same segment. NetBEUI requires virtually no configuration. It just works (unless you throw in a router) |

You say you can't ping yourself...is that using 192.168.0.1 or using the loopback of 127.0.0.1? Its not a cabling issue is it, or a driver problem. Is your network card hard set by accident to an unsupport mode or duplex?

Try changing the IP to 192.168.0.100
I swaped out a nic also and had some weird shit happen.. Changed to that ip and all is well now...
Also is you network connection #2 now?
I have 2 nic's in due to broadband and sharing over my lan when I swaped one of the nic's. Connection#1 is gone and I now have #2 and #3 somehow the ip of 192.168.0.1 is no longer valid(thats what the first nic was using).Try it..
Sometimes it sux to be me, sometimes it doesn't. Go figure

I fiked it.
I did have netBUI installed.
The problem was in the subnet. I was one subnet out of the range. I changed it to 192.168.1.1, my laptop is 192.168.1.2, ect ect. the subnet mask is 255.255.255.240.
I have no idea why it never worked at school, because we have a dynamically assigned ip's at school.
Anyways, thanks for all your help guys. I appreciate it. :-D
