More network problems here.

I switched network cards, and now I can't access network shares. I figgured that the network access was set thru the other card some how, so I uninstalled ALL network devices and protocals, but to no avail.

I can still access the internet thru the network though. any ideas?

On a Win9X machine if you go and remove you NIC from device manager and re-install the same / different card you will have to re-create the shares. Happened to me last weekend on the woman's 98 machine.

you need to put a check in the box next to:

"enable netbios over tcp-ip"

otherwise you don't "exist" on the network . . it's in tcp ip properties under "advanced"

Had the same shit 2 weeks ago... TCP/IP was installed and All pc's could surf but nobody could see the 2K machine. Tcp/ip is for Internet transulations (and most new games), netbios-IPX/SPX is for network file shares(and older games) Etc.

Sometimes it sux to be me, sometimes it doesn't. Go figure

i've had this problem for the past 2 weeks, but I didn't know if it was network related or client related. (we've been having alot of net problems since we went OC3).

ANyways, i changed to enable the netbios thing, and it still doesn't work. Could there be settings somewhere else I'm missing?

Ok, here's an update. I can't ping my own computer. I get an error 65. what ever the hell that means. I can't ping the gateway.

I can't use anything with a network name in it, like spunkb0x's ftp. If i use his IP instead, all is well. I enabled netbios, but that didn't work either.

^bump^ anyone?
