Try to change the registry when you are logged in as administrator (only). A user with membership to the local or domain administrator doesnt work... So log in as administrator in to local machine....

Does anybody know: can you also use animated gifs ???
Like the moving line on the original one, because you can make some weird shit then, even some small movies...

Try Disabling Hide protected operating system files in the Folder Options and you should be able to see dllcache
If you are using Service Packs the file is on a SP1.CAB file for example

Regarding another message: Animated Gifs????? Have you bothered to read the article???? The max you'll get is playing around with the palette, dude!

I was looking for that file ... then I realized "dllcache" is a folder ... I don't have ntoskrnl.exe in the Driver Cache folder either ... "Hide protected operating system files" is disabled ...

Hmm.. I can't seem to get mine to work..

When you convert it to 16 colors in PS6.. you go Image, Mode, Indexed Color..

Which Mode should be used? Do you HAVE to use Uniform? All three of the Local ones seem to make it look very nice Smile and I checked the color table and I still only have 16 colors on my pic..

Also, what should the file size of the bmp be? The sample one is 153kb, but for some reason mine turns out to be 307kb.

Anyone know what I'm doing wrong.. the sample one works fine, so I know I've got the files set up right, its just my BMP thats the problem, i think.

(No I'm not trying to mock Fido, I've been using this name for about 5 years now, long before I knew this website, or Fido for that matter existed) Smile

Its hard to save the right sort of bmp file, I too had problems with it when using picture publisher to convert and save the images. With thumbs plus it worked!

the file size should be 150k

The little applet can be seen by clicking on the "Help" hyperlink of the "Press CTRL-ALT-DEL to logon" screen during bootup

Remember, until almost 9 months before launch, Microsoft was planning to make Win2000 THE software for all consumers. This would include home users who have never touched NT.
