Open up disk administrator, and right-click on the partition that you want to change and click - change drive letter.

All very well guys but what about Wn98.

I have 30Gig IBM HD in C/D/E partitions & CD rom, CD RW. Last two labelled F & G.

I would like to name/ID my way but have no idea how.

Help appreciated.

to change the CD-ROM drive letter in 9x, just go to device manager, then go into your CD-Rom properties, and under the settings tab, use the dropdown boxes named "Reserved drive letters" and set them both to "S" or "T" or whatever.

For Hard drives, you have to do a little registry editing. Basically, search your registry for the name of the hard drive specified in device manager. There's only one spot in the registry that will have that exact name. You will then see a key called "CurrentDriveLetterAssignment" and then you can change that value.

In this case, I searched for "WDC WD84 AA" and the key you want to change is right above it.
